Hi! Thanks so much for your interest and support of my work. I created this page to provide some details on pricing for my items and shipping costs. In this modern day, customers (including me!) are very aware of how much they are spending. I try to keep my prices fair to ensure that owning artwork is accessible to as many people as possible! Being an independent artist is not an easy or stress-free career path, but it is SO worth it to know that my art brings other people joy.

Production Costs

All illustrations and product designs are created by me! I select vendors that produce high-quality products, and I order in relatively low volumes to avoid generating waste and to minimize storage costs. Because I select quality products, production costs can be high which causes the margins on my products to be narrow. I assure you that I do my very best to keep prices fair while still paying myself at least minimum wage (or ideally more than that, right?!). I believe in being transparent about all of this, so please reach out if you have any questions about pricing—I am happy to provide a cost breakdown for any items you are interested in.

Shipping

Stickers ship for free from my site in an envelope with proper postage (which ranges from $0.63-$2.00). The base cost for shipping packages first class (now “ground advantage”) is $6.50. This doesn’t include the cost of poster tubes, mailers, and other shipping supplies, which I include in the base price of the product. I use sustainable materials like paper poster tubes and padded envelopes from EcoEnclose and reuse packaging when I can because I care about the Earth!

Interested in discounts?

I offer specials and sales on my website a few times a year—usually around the holidays, during the summer, or if things have been a little slow in my shop. I post these discounts to my Instagram (@the_local_naturalist), so give me a follow to stay updated! If you are an educator and would like to purchase a poster or stickers for your classroom, send me an email for a discount code. I love knowing that my work is helping students learn about the natural world.

Feeling generous?

If you are super jazzed about what I’m doing, if you loved your recent order, or if you are just feeling extra generous, I’ve set up a Kofi page to accept fee-free donations. You can think of it as buying me a cup of coffee, a tip for exceptional service, or as a donation to my mission to inspire stewardship of nature. You can even leave a note if you’d like me to use it for something specific! Just follow this link to contribute: https://ko-fi.com/thelocalnaturalist.

Thank you!

So, if you go to checkout from my shop (or from another independent artist) and are shocked at the price tag, remember that you are supporting a real person that is doing their best to make sure that you’re able to enjoy their work for many years to come. You’re buying our coffee, food, the roof over our heads, time to create, etc. It really does mean the world to us, and I hope you continue to support independent artists! Thank you so much!
