Nudibranchs are members of the Phylum Mollusca, Order Nudibranchia (meaning “naked gill”). They are widespread across many types of marine environments, from tropical coral reefs to frigid polar waters. They are often brightly colored and patterned, though many are also very cryptic and small. This diagram shows the diversity of forms that nudibranchs exhibit, named for their taxanomic classification. Clockwise from upper left: Arminid (Armina californica), Dendronotid (Dendronotus albus), Tritonid (Tritonia festiva), Aeolid (Hermissenda opalescens, Flabellinopsis iodinea, Babakina festiva), Dorid (Cadlina modesta, Dialula sandiegensis).
